Everybody's Theater Channel to launch in Japan in December.
Nintendo has revealed plans to launch a new Wii Channel for Japan in December. The Everybody's Theater Channel will cost 500 Wii Points to download in the WiiWare section. Once downloaded, Wii owners will be able to stream anime, movies and television programs on their Wii consoles. Programs will range from 100-400 Wii Points per view, and content will range from children programs to adult anime. Nintendo also stated that these services will be provided in HD.
At the moment, this seems like a Japan-only feature, but we will keep you posted.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon announced for the DS.
A complete remake of the Japan-only NES game, Fire Emblem, has been announced for the DS under the name "Shadow Dragon". This 8-bit wonder follows the story of Marth, who must lead an army into battle in the hopes of him reclaiming his home land.
As it's a DS revamp, the graphics have been updated majorly, touch screen game play has been implemented and an online mode has been added. The game will feature voice chat to people who you've added to your Friend Roster, as well as the ability to trade characters with each other. You can also access an "online shop", where you can purchase items which change over time.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is slated for a Q1 2009 release in the US.
More Gamecube Wii-makes revealed.
Nintendo had just revealed that Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and Pikmin will be joining the Wii's long list of ports, exchanging the Gamecube controller for some Wii remote goodness. However, a couple other quality Gamecube games are also reportedly making their way to the Wii through this new 'Play On Wii' brand.
Games listed were: Chibi Robo, Pikmin 2, Mario Tennis, Metroid Prime, and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It's obvious that Nintendo wants all their core games that could never sell on the Gamecube to get their money's worth on the Wii. But I personally see all of those games announced suiting the Wii's dimension perfectly. I mean more Wii Metroid can only be a good thing, and I always wanted to play Mario Power Tennis and Pikmin 2.

Nintendo reveals a Storage Solution. *UPDATED*
Well, whether or not this is an actual solution is your decision. What Nintendo is going to do is allow for downloadable content, such as your Channels and Shop Channel games to be saved directly to the SD Card, so you don't need to move data around to save the game. However, there was no clarification or not as if this would allow games to be played directly off the SD Card. We will keep you posted.
UPDATE: According to Aussie-Nintendo, games that have been saved directly to an SD Card can be directly streamed off of them too. This means no more copying games back and forth onto your Wii to play them. This update will launch around Spring 2009.
Pikmin Wii-make and Pikmin 3 SEPARATE games.
When Nintendo announced yesterday that they were remaking the original Pikmin from the Gamecube for the Wii, people got the impression that the new Pikmin game for the Wii will be just the remake. Those people can rest easy now, as Nintendo has clarified that Pikmin 3 is a brand new separate game that will launch next year.
No confirmation on whether the game will launch for DS or Wii.

Wii Speak Channel revealed.
It looks like Animal Crossing: City Folk won't be the only way to chat with people online on the Wii when the peripheral launches later this year. Nintendo's US Conference just revealed that on November 16th, a new Wii Channel will be released that will allow up to four players to chat to each other. However, you must trade Friendcodes with each other before you can communicate.
When you buy a Wii Speak peripheral, you will be given a code which will allow you to download this service from the Wii Shop Channel at no cost. Your Mii will be used as an avatar. According to the source, you will be allowed to chat in real time to people, as well as leave short audio clips for them. You can also send photos over this service, and use Wii Speak to add caption to them.

Wii HD confirmed.... by publishers and developers outside of Nintendo.
This subject is going from rumour to plausible as multiple developers and publishers are claiming that Nintendo has begun showcasing the successor to the Wii, known currently as Wii HD. Some publishers are stating that Nintendo plan on revealing this console to the public during the TGS Convention sometime. When asked about this, Nintendo simply replied with their trademark "no comment", which is exactly what they said about the DSi announcement.
It's anyone's guess what will happen now.

Nintendo revealed Nintendo DSi.
The rumours were all true, as just moments ago, Nintendo announced their all new hand held console, code named the "DSi". The Nintendo DSi will support all the features previously rumoured in the earlier news post, including music playback and a built in camera. The console will support an SD Card slot for storing the photos, which can also be viewed on the Wii.
New details have also been revealed. Nintendo stated that the Nintendo DSi is their "third console for this generation", insisting that the DSi is NOT a replacement to the DS Lite and that they will both sell alongside each other. The new system will also come included with a built in browser function, which players can use to access the DSiWare service. The DSiWare service, just like WiiWare before it, is where you can download original games specifically created for the DSi using a Point system similar to Wii Points. Games will cost 200 points, 500 points and 800 points respectively. It has also been reported that Mii's will be somehow usable on this console.
Games that are due out for the DSi when it launches include (from the source): Valk Profile DS, Kirby (most likely SSU), Kyotaro, Rockman (most likely MMSF3), World Food, Phantasy Star Zero, Momotaro Dentetsu.

Finally of course, what the system looks like:

It looks almost exactly like the DS Lite with a couple minor alterations.
In regards to a release date, Nintendo has confirmed that Japan will be seeing this console launch on November 1st. Everyone else however won't be seeing the DSi on store shelves until sometime in 2009.
TOKYO (AFP) -- Sony said Thursday it will launch a beefed-up version of its PlayStation 3 in Japan this month at the same price as the current version but with double the storage capacity.
The company will start selling the PS3 with an 80-gigabyte hard disk drive in its domestic market on October 30 with a price tag of 39,980 yen (400 dollars).
Apart from the bigger hard disk drive, the console will be the same as the current 40GB model, it said. The 80GB version is already available in Europe, North America and South Korea.
Sony also said it would launch its delayed 3D virtual universe for the PS3 by the end of the year.
""Home"", which will let users try out games and communicate with other players in ""game lounges"", had originally been scheduled for launch in late 2007 but was delayed twice because the service needed further development.
The free service allows users to set up an apartment for life-like virtual characters, or avatars, who can invite friends over, share pictures and videos, and play online games.
Sony has much riding on the PS3 but faces fierce competition from Microsoft's XBox 360 and Nintendo's Wii.
If you're one of the few Xbox 360 owners without at least 256 MB memory card or hard drive, don't worry: Microsoft has you covered.
The company Friday announced that it will soon unveil a storage solution to any Xbox 360 owners unable to free up 128 MB of storage space, which will be required once the New Xbox Experience launches next month.
"While we expect the majority of consumers to download the New Xbox Experience without a problem, a small percentage of Xbox 360 owners do not have enough memory to accommodate the update," Microsoft said in a statement.
"To help ensure all Xbox Live members are able to download the New Xbox Experience and enjoy its new features, Microsoft will be offering storage solutions to the Xbox LIVE community. We are not sharing details of this offering yet. Be sure to check xbox.com."
Thumb drive firmware upgrade, perhaps? Free memory cards? We shall see.
